What To Wear
It is strongly recommended that individuals who do not possess the appropriate riding attire prioritize safety by adhering to the following guidelines for horseback riding and related activities:
- Wear sensible shoes or boots with a small heel and a fairly smooth sole that preferably cover the ankle, avoiding trainers.
- Opt for boot socks or ankle-covering socks for enhanced comfort over trainer socks.
- Choose comfortable, durable trousers that cover the entire leg, ideally with some stretch. Be cautious of thick seams on the inside of jeans that may cause irritation.
- Long-sleeved clothing on the upper body is advisable, with the option to layer for easy removal as body heat increases during movement. Cotton shirts or polo shirts are recommended, while low-cut or strapless tops are not suitable.
- Gloves are essential in cold weather and for individuals with sensitive hands prone to discomfort. Jewelry should be avoided.
- Secure long hair in a manner that does not create bumps or clips under the riding hat.
- A riding hat that meets current safety standards is mandatory. Valley Farm offers a limited selection of hats for borrowing. Hats and boots are required for Pony Camp and School Activity Days.
- Dress appropriately for the weather, considering a short coat for comfort while riding. Coats or jackets should be fastened securely.
- Body protectors are recommended for jumping and cross-country activities.
- Sunscreen is advised during the summer months to protect against sun exposure.
It is crucial to adhere to these guidelines to ensure a safe and enjoyable horseback riding experience.
We offer a limited selection of hats and boots for beginners or those riding on a one-time basis, such as for birthday parties. However, we strongly recommend purchasing your own gear. Children participating in Pony Camp or school activity days must bring their own labeled hat and boots. We are also happy to accept any riding boots that your children have outgrown, as this can benefit other children in the future. Thank you for your cooperation.
It is highly recommended that you invest in the appropriate riding attire. It is essential to have an approved standard hat, jodhpurs or riding leggings, long riding boots, or short riding boots with half chaps, gloves, a long-sleeved shirt, and, if you plan to compete, a tie or stock, a hair net, and a riding jacket. Additionally, a body protector may be necessary for your safety. If you require any guidance before making a purchase, please do not hesitate to ask. It is not advisable to purchase second-hand hats, as they may have been compromised.
For visitors to the yard, we suggest that parents accompanying their children wear sensible shoes, avoiding flip flops, sandals, or canvas shoes. We do have riding boots available for borrowing if you do not have appropriate footwear.
If you are interested in observing lessons, please dress according to the weather conditions. Alternatively, you can enjoy watching from the comfort of the Camargue Cafe.
